New York City - the greatest City in the WORLD! Or at least, that is what my Uber driver Vlad told me as we came out of the Queens Midtown Tunnel. I've heard so many people say this, and yes, I do love New York City - but even just a quick 3 day vacation there left me exhausted. I was there to visit my best friend, Bekka, who has lived there for about 4 or 5 years. Every time I visit we have plans that usually include:Seriously - look at that spread. The waitress didn't find out "Where is our 3rd friend?" joke as much as we did... To liven the mood a bit we took a walk around Battery Park and attempted to take some photos of the skyline and the Statue of Liberty. That bitch is hard to get a photo of when you're so far away. The weather, however, was beautiful and we ended the day by doing a bit of shopping, grabbing a few beers at The Globe, and then eating delicious fresh pasta at Cacio de Pepe near the Ukrainian Village. Saturday wrapped up with pizza and beer at Luzzo's Pizza minus the beer because they were "Working on getting their license back". Insert awkward face here. We rounded out our Brooklyn trip by people watching at the Pier and eating some much needed ice cream from the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory (get the chocolate chunk - nom!). My trip ended 60,000 steps higher and so carb loaded I feel like I should be eating kale and green juice for a week straight. However, we got to laugh a little too hard, drink & eat a little too much, and spend some quality time together which was what the trip was really about.

This past weekend my family all traveled down to Atlanta, Georgia to celebrate my Grandmother's (or as we call her,Nana) 92nd birthday. 92! I cannot even fathom making it to 72 let alone 92. The weather in Atlanta is definitely not one to be desired. I always think it is hot and humid in Indiana in August...but this is on another level. It had been years since I was last down there and I quickly forgot how much water you should be drinking and air conditioning you should be consuming. Towards the end of the trip I learned this lesson pretty hard by drinking a bit too much gin and not enough water - welcome to Hangover Hell 2016. Tim ended up dragging my ass to Bojangles' for some fried chicken which I tried like hell to consume it without letting everyone know I thought I was going to ralph. We finally got to my cousin's house to have a pool party and after about 10 glasses of water I started to feel a bit better. Maybe by my 92nd birthday I'll have it figured out. |
